Become a Magnet

Have you ever been around someone that made you feel like the most important person in the whole world? Someone that you love to be around because your day is brighter because of them? If you step back and observe, you’ll find that you’re attracted to them like metal to a magnet. What you’re seeing isn’t magic, it’s a mindset and it’s a game changer for the those that can master it.

What they do is put the needs of others before their own needs. I know this sounds counterintuitive but hear me out. When you’re thinking of yourself first, everything you do is with the thought of what you can get. Your thoughts and sentences start with me or I. And then there’s the sense of fairness that comes with a self-serving attitude where you count everything you do for others and demand that you get at least as much in return. You do this in business and in relationships. I know what’s best for my customer, so they should do it. Or, I did the dishes, you do the trash. Keeping count is time consuming, frustrating, and ultimately a road to increased selfishness. It’s just not a fun path to go down.

A better way is to become others focused. You genuinely put their needs first and do whatever you can to help them out with no thought of what you get in return. You treat and see people for who they can and should be, not as they are now. You believe in the general goodness of others. You give them your full attention and actively listen to what they have to say in the hope of being able to offer assistance any way you can. You don’t think less of yourself, you just think of yourself less.

The rewards for mastering this mindset are absolutely amazing! You’re happier because true joy is found serving others. People want to be around you because you make them feel important and cared for. Instead of being taken advantage of by others, the universe repays you back one hundred fold for what you’ve done. You can easily see this principle in nature. When you plant a kernel of corn, do you get back one ear of corn? No! From that one kernel, you get ears and ears of corn. It’s the same with an apple seed too. You don’t get one apple, you get bushels of apples.

While it’s important to be successful and provide for you and your family, that shouldn’t be your only focus. The only thing you take with you when you die is who you’ve become…work on that more than anything else. Become a magnet and show the world just how AMAZING you are!
